Are you aware that some of the so called 'safe' foods are in fact making your diabetes worse?
You avoid sweets and puddings and choose healthy options instead - but thses can have high sugar levels.
Here's how to avoid these high sugar items
1) Fruit Smoothies These can have as much sugar as 3 cans of soda - and the worse ones are from fast-food places and restuarants. The solution is to make your own but don't use sugary fruits like bananas and peaches. The bestones to use include apples, blueberries and strawberries.
2) Potatoes Potatoes may sound like a healthy option - they have no fat, no cholesterol and have fiber and vitamins. The problem is they are a starchy food which when digested can cause insulin spikes.
You can still eat potatoes but cook them in healthy fats and add greens or vegetables. Also if you chill them and add lemon juice they will be digested more slowly.
Eat a small amount - half a cup full or a small baked potato.
3) White rice
White rice increases the risk of diabetes but the is a good alternative - just eat brown rice instead. This contain fiber which reduces the rate at which sugar is released, and reduces the risk of diabetes.
